Holiday Travel Tips

The Lee County Port Authority is reminding those that may be traveling out of Southwest Florida International Airport this holiday to:

  • Please arrive at least 2 hours prior to your flight departure time. Leave extra time for arriving to the airport, parking, check-in and clearing through airport security. You can sit and enjoy the airport food and shopping concessions while you wait or take advantage of our free Wi-Fi service.
  • Check with your airline for baggage and travel requirements as well as flight schedules. In addition, if you are traveling to or from a destination that could be experiencing inclement weather, please contact your airline to see if there are any changes to your flight schedule.
  • Know where you want to park. The airport has adequate space for parking and does not require passengers and airport users to make a reservation. Parking options available at the airport are:
    • Short-term parking: Located in the parking garage directly across from the terminal. First 20 minutes free; each additional 20-minute increment is $1; daily maximum is $18.
    • Long-term parking: Located beyond the parking garage in the surface lot. Shuttles provide transportation to and from this lot to the terminal curb. $2 per hour; daily maximum is $10; weekly rate is $56.
  • Parking or waiting on the terminal curb is prohibited due to airport security. This area is for active loading and unloading only.
  • Visit the Transportation Security Administration's Web site at http://www.tsa.gov/ for tips on packing and what you can and can't bring through the security checkpoint.
  • Pack smart. Make sure all straps and hanging pieces are inside your bag or firmly secured to the bag with tape. Also, have identification on the outside and inside of your baggage.
